Cottam between 1886 and 1895. In 1893 he raised £700 to

Fr Thomas Forster |

Fr Forster
was born in Carlisle in 1929. He was educated at
Ushaw College and ordained in July, 1957.
Following his ordination he served at the Sacred Heart,
Preston, and Our Lady Star of the Sea in St Annes-on-Sea.
In 1962, Fr Forster became an army chaplain and was
posted to various parts of the world.
After 17
years with the army he became parish priest of St
Catherine's, Penrith.
Owing to
ill-health he served several short appointments -
including Cottam where he was parish priest between 1989
and 1990. |

For a time, before going to assist Bishop
Walmsley, Bishop to the Forces, he was
appointed temporarily as chaplain to the
then Lancashire Polytechnic. Prior to
retirement on health grounds, he was
secretary to Bishop Brewer. |
